If you have a repair emergency out of office hours, you can call the repairs freephone number on 0800 177 7001. As with all repairs, we will need:
Gas (smell, leak or fumes)
Call the National Grid Emergency Service immediately on 0800 111999. Ensure that you make the call using a phone outside your home. Using a phone inside, even a mobile, may spark an explosion.
Turn off the gas (the handle at the meter should be turned so that it is horizontal) and open the windows.
Do not smoke and put out any flames.
Do not switch anything electrical on or off until the problem has been fixed.
Smoke or fumes
If you can see or smell smoke call 999 or 112 immediately.
If there is no sign of smoke or fire and your alarm is sounding, check to see if your alarm has been set off by something else (such as a build up of dust).
Electricity
Turn the mains switch on the consumer unit to OFF. If you have a power cut, call the emergency number provided on your latest electricity bill.
Water
Turn off the mains stop tap (clockwise). If you have no water supply, phone Anglian Water on 08457 145145 or Thames Water on 08459 200888.
