Money and Welfare Benefits Advice

Here at SNH we have a Money Advice Team which we share with South Northants Council.  Bob Wingerath, our Money Advisor, and Deborah Monaghan, our Assistant Money Advisor, offer a free, confidential service and can help you with any number of issues relating to debt advice and money management.  They will see you in the privacy of your own home, or at our offices if you prefer, and work through any issues you may have, offering practical support on the management of your debts.  You do not need to be an SNH tenant to use this service.

Bob and Debbie are based at the Council Offices in Towcester and can be contacted on 01327 322393 or email bob.wingerath@southnorthants.gov.uk

We also offer an in-house Welfare Benefits Advice Service.  Only available to SNH tenants, our advisor, Janet Roberts, can advise you an all aspects of welfare benefits, from claiming housing benefit to appealing a decision about Disability Living Allowance. We believe Jan’s services will be invaluable to those worried how they will cope with the upcoming changes to benefits.

Jan is based at our offices on Burcote Road in Towcester and can be contacted on 01327 357832 or email janet.roberts@southnorthantshomes.co.uk

Alternatively, you can contact your housing officer who will refer you to the most appropriate person.

We can also offer support if you need to set up a basic bank account.  There are many benefits to having an account – it can be a very good way of accessing cheaper goods and services because it allows you to set up direct debits or standing orders to pay for services such as gas and electricity.  It also allows you to keep tight control of what you spend as basic bank accounts only allow you to withdraw what’s in your account.  You can download a copy of our guide to basic bank accounts here or you can contact your housing officer who will put you in touch with the Coucil’s Financial Inclusion Officer, Les Rolfe, who can help you set up a Basic Bank Account.
