The Assisted Gardening and Decorating Scheme allows tenants to apply to have one room decorated, or one visit to do gardening works, per year. This scheme helps those tenants who are elderly or registered disabled, can't to do the work themselves and can't afford to hire a private gardener or decorator. If the tenant has a friend or relative nearby who can help with the work or assist with hiring a private decorator or gardener, the scheme unfortunately cannot help.
To apply for the service, you need to fill out a Gardening and Decorating Scheme application form.
In order to be accepted for this scheme you must meet the following criteria:
unable to carry out the work yourself
70 years of age or disabled (i.e be in receipt of disability benefits)
In receipt of Means Tested Benefit, (i.e. Housing Benefit)
Must be an Assured Tenant of South Northants Homes
Have no relatives living with you, or within reasonable distance of you, who could be expected to help.
The above criteria must all be met in order to be accepted for these schemes, as they are very popular. If you would like to discuss your application or have any further questions, you can contact the Customer Services Team on 0800 177 7001.
We will write to you to let you know if your application has been successful and an estimated time for when the works can be done.
