If you're looking to rent an affordable home in the South Northamptonshire area, and you're not already a South Northants Homes tenant, you can sign up to the South Northamptonshire Council's housing register. 75% of SNH's homes are allocated to those on the housing register, with the other 25% being allocated to existing SNH tenants who want to transfer.
To join the housing register you need to fill out a South Northamptonshire Council application form, which can be found on their website at http://www.southnorthants.gov.uk/AffordableHousing.htm. You can also pick one up from the SNH offices or call us on 08454 606 888.
Once your application has been accepted, your housing need will be decided based on your circumstances. Your application will be put into a 'band', from 1 to 4, which shows your application's priority on the waiting list, and you'll be informed of this.
If you are nominated to us by the Council for a particular property, we will check that you are eligible for the property using our Allocation and Void Management Policy. If you are eligible, we ill invite you in for a pre-tenancy meeting where we will discuss with you the implications of holding a tenancy with us
If you are already an SNH tenant and want to move to another of our properties (i.e a transfer) you need to apply directly to SNH. To do this, you need to fill out a transfer application form. Once you have completed the relevant form(s) please send to South Northants Homes, Wood Burcote House, Burcote Road, Towcester, Northants, NN12 6TF.
If you want to be considered for a transfer to a non-SNH property in the area, you need to also apply to South Northamptonshire Council.
Please note: To be eligible for a transfer you must have an assured tenancy (not a starter tenancy) and it will be assessed in line with our transfer policy. You must also complete a medical form if you have a medical condition that is affected by your current accommodation.
To determine who should be given priority for a transfer, we use our Transfer Policy. Those with the highest priority usually need to move due to their current property being significantly overcrowded or under-occupied, or have a medical condition which makes it very difficult to remain at the property.
