One of eight young apprentices taken on by local social housing provider South Northants Homes has been nominated for a prestigious award.
The news that Greg Brown, 18, has been put forward for the National Apprentice of the Year award comes as the UK marks National Apprenticeships Week with a series of events across the country.
Meanwhile Greg’s colleagues who were taken on by SNH last summer are marking their first six months in the training.
SNH Assistant Director, Property Services, Doug Grace said: “We are delighted not only that Greg has been put forward for this award, but also that all our young apprentices are proving such valuable members of our team here”.
“Some are working as maintenance and electrical apprentices and others are working on our in our housing and customer services teams and together they have contributed so much to what we offer our customers. “
Electrical apprentice Greg said: “I am really pleased to be nominated. The first six months for me and all the apprentices here at SNH has been a huge learning curve but we are all thoroughly enjoying it and making the most of a great scheme.”
One of SNH’s apprentices is partly co-funded by its contractors Vinci Facilities and BSG Property Services Ltd.. In addition, the SNH apprentice recruitment inspired contractor Mears Projects to recruit a further apprentice.
SNH has also been put forward by Northampton College, its partner on the apprenticeships programme, for the award of Employer of the Year.
