Press release
South Northants Homes is launched
We are delighted to announce the transfer of 2,900 homes from South Northamptonshire Council to South Northants Homes, which took place on Monday 17 March 2008. The transfer will enable housing services to be improved and result in £46m being invested in repairs and improvements to homes over the next five years. All homes will be improved beyond the government’s Decent Homes Standard.
The new housing association has a work force of over 90 staff and a turnover of around £18m. It is backed by £55m of funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
South Northants Homes is a ‘not for profit’ charitable housing association with a Board of Management made up of five tenant representatives, five council nominees, and five independent members. It is committed to wide engagement with the community and will shortly be recruiting tenants to join a new Customer Committee. Its aim is to become a truly customer focused organisation.
Paul Calland, the newly appointed Managing Director of South Northants Homes, said:
“This is a momentous occasion in the history of affordable social housing in the district. Although it has taken many months and a lot of hard work to get us to this point, in many ways the real work is only just beginning. My job as Managing Director of South Northants Homes will be to oversee, along with the Board, the delivery of all the promises made to tenants before transfer.”
