South Northants Homes’ offices open in style!

Northamptonshire-based social housing provider South Northants Homes (SNH) officially opened its brand new offices on Friday 27 November, with a visit from Lord Heseltine and other distinguished guests.

The offices, located in the town of Towcester, Northamptonshire, were officially opened by Lord Heseltine, who gave a speech before unveiling a plaque in the reception of the newly refurbished building. The Chairman of the SNH Board, Graham Smith, welcomed Lord Heseltine and gave a brief overview of his distinguished career. Other guests at the ceremony included the Chairman of South Northants Council, local politicians and councillors, and partners of SNH.

Before the opening, Lord Heseltine was introduced to two very special SNH tenants. Mrs Rogers has lived in her property since 1945 and Mrs Hope was the first tenant in Norton Court, an SNH retirement scheme in Greens Norton (a village in Northamptonshire). Lord Heseltine was also introduced to two young men who have recently been awarded apprenticeships with Mears Projects (SNH’s contractor), after a joint project with SNH to provide skills and opportunities for young people.

After officially opening the offices, Lord Heseltine was presented with a large canvas picture of a poppy field, taken by a member of staff. The photograph was taken in an area close to Lord Heseltine’s estate. Lord Heseltine was then given a guided tour of the building by Paul Calland, Managing Director of South Northants Homes.

Speaking at the event, Lord Heseltine said:

“I am delighted to open this building. It is wonderful to meet Mrs Rogers and Mrs Hope, tenants who are happy in their homes and who are consulted on issues. As a cabinet minister, housing was an area I dealt with extensively, so I am pleased to see the good work South Northants Homes is doing in the local area.”

Paul Calland, Managing Director at SNH said:

“We were delighted to welcome Lord Heseltine, a distinguished politician and local resident. We were also please to welcome many other guests including local MPs, councillors and stakeholders, as well as our two tenants and the two apprentices, Josh and Dean. This event proved that SNH is much more than bricks and mortar, by providing a wide range of opportunities and support in local communities.”

After the event, staff were treated to a hot lunch from local caterers, Towcester Tea Rooms.
