Older Persons Housing
Intercom and alarm system
Each of the older persons housing properties is connected to an alarm system which is linked to a call centre and in the case of sheltered schemes is also linked to the scheme manager. This allows the tenant to get in touch directly with the scheme manager in some cases but in all cases with someone who will be able to summon assistance in an emergency or in situations of an urgent nature, and will arrange for the scheme manager or the community warden to get in touch with the tenant.
All of our properties are connected by the intercom to the Call Care 24-hour control centre, which monitors the schemes at all times. Call Care is provided by Northampton Borough Council and is staffed 24 hours a day by fully trained, professional staff who can, if necessary, summon the appropriate help from the scheme managers, community wardens, family, friends or the appropriate emergency services in times of need.
However, tenants are reminded that the alarm system relies on electrical power and a dedicated telephone line, which may occasionally fail and prevent the alarm system activating. In the unlikely event of the alarm system failing, contact the scheme manager or community warden by telephone or Call Care on
