Themed Customer Forums
South Northants Homes Customer Forums
The role of the Customer Forums is to work with the Association and its staff in the development of improvements across the range of services delivered by South Northants Homes. The forums will make recommendations to the Customer Committee and officers of the Association as well as act, on occasion, as a consultative forum for external agencies, whose services may impact on the Association’s customers.
Could you be a forum member?
- Do you have time to spare?
- Do you like to have a say?
- Would you like to be able to influence decisions which will make a difference to local tenants?
You do not need any specific skills or experience to become a forum member and you will gain a whole range of personal and social development skills including team working, interview skills, problem solving, and public speaking skills.
We already have three active forums made up of tenants who have been consulted and involved in developing policies and procedures for South Northants Homes. These are:
Repairs and Improvements Forum (RIF)
This forum has met with the three contractors who are delivering the Major Works Programme and helped to ensure that there is a Code of Practice in place for the Contractors. This code reflects the service that tenants expect. RIF was also involved in the production of the Repairs and Maintenance Handbook
Housing Management Forum (HMF)
This forum has been involved in the production of the Tenants Handbook, the 2009 Calendar and considered alternative methods of paying rent, such as swipe cards.
The Older Persons Forum (OPF)
This forum has been helping design information leaflets for tenants and has been consulted on the SNH Gardening and Decorating scheme.
In addition, we would like to introduce a number of new Customer Forums and have listed these below:
Communication Forum
The aim of this forum will be to ensure that all communication we have with our tenants is accessible to everyone, easily understood and designed in appropriate formats. This will include involvement with the development of newsletters, calendar, website, information leaflets, events and consultations. The forum will also have a creative influence over the design of publications as well as be involved with the editorial.
Minorities and Accessibility Forum
The aim of this forum will be to review and monitor the way we deliver our services to ensure we are meeting the needs of all our tenants, and that we are providing a fair and open service to all people.
Leaseholder Forum
The Leaseholder Forum will be set up specifically to ensure our leaseholders are kept informed and consulted with any changes which may affect them. It will also be an opportunity for them to meet key staff and discuss any issues relating to being a leaseholder with SNH.
South Northants Youth Forum
We would like to set up a Panel of young people to ensure that young people are being represented and have a voice in the local community. This panel will be run by young people for young people. Its main purpose will be to inform and actively participate in the development and improvement of services for young people in South Northants.
Resident Associations
Residents Associations are formed by groups of people from a specific street, estate or area who come together to address local issues and act as a voice for their community to help make it a better place to live.
The Community Development Team will give advice and support with setting up Resident’ Associations and groups. We can also allocate funding for set up costs such as insurance, room hire and events.
Tea and Chat
If you do not want to commit yourself to a specific role, but feel you would like to have your say, or if you would like us to visit you or a group to discuss how you can get involved please invite us for Tea and Chat – we’ll bring the cakes.
