Customer Committee

Customer Committee Members

How am I represented at Customer Committee?

South Northants is divided into 10 areas and each Customer Committee member represents a different area. The Customer Committee is chaired by Tenant Board Member Malcolm Taylor.

What does Customer Committee do?

The role of the Customer Committee is to be the voice for tenants who live in the area they represent and bring to our attention any issues or concerns in the local communities. The Customer Committee meets bi-monthly and their role in the meetings is to:

• monitor the progress of the Major Repairs and Improvement Programme

• monitor our performance, particularly in terms of delivering the promises made in the Offer Document

• assist with policy reviews

• decide where the money is awarded from the Charitable and Community Donations fund

• make recommendations to the Board

• monitor the progress of the Customer Forums

• nominate tenant members to the five places on the SNH Board

• decide priorities for the environmental improvement programme.

Malcolm Taylor Area 2Middleton Cheney, Overthorpe, Farthinghoe, Marston St Lawrence, Chacombe, Helmdon, Culworth, Chipping Warden, Aston-le-Walls, Lower Boddington and Upper Boddington

Malcolm TaylorI am a Tenant Board Member and Chair of Customer Committee. As a Customer Committee member I am at the hub of the association. Other personal interests of
mine are working with the management and staff of SNH and all involved tenants to have a real say. I also enjoy my garden and I spend a lot of time on my family history, which is very interesting. There is no financial reward for the hard work involved in being an involved tenant; the reward is the real satisfaction of helping others.

Russell Barre Area 3 – Brackley and Halse

Russel BarreI enjoy my responsibility on the Customer Committee and the meetings are very diverse and cover many interesting subjects. I am the Chairman of the Royal
British Legion Brackley and District Branch and their local fundraiser which is a very worthwhile charity as so many victims of World War II, Iraq and Afghanistan need our help. I am also trustee of South Northants Volunteers Bureau and am a volunteer driver for Brackley Area Car Service, something I have enjoyed doing for 10 years.

Tricia Morgan Area 4 – Eydon, Moreton Pinkney, Weston, Sulgrave, Weedon Lois, Wappenham, Slapton, Silverstone, Syresham, Whitfield, Whittlebury, Pury End, Bradden, Woodend, Maidford, Blakesley, Abthorpe and Paulerspury

Tricia MorganI am a Customer Committee and Tenant Board Member. I am interested in the Customer Committee because I want to help my community and its tenants, as I have some
time to attend meetings and to be involved.
I am also on the patient committee at Northampton General Hospital, I am an arctophile (a collector of teddy bears), I am a published poet and I enjoy driving and holidaying in England and Wales with my Cairn Terriers.

Martin Tilly-Reed Area 5 – Pattishall, Astcote, Milton Malsor, Rothersthorpe, Eastcote, Tiffield, Cold Higham, Grimscote, Gayton, Greens Norton, Blisworth and Litchborough.

Martin Tilly-ReedAs a new member of the Customer Committee I am looking forward to working closely with the association to help shape the way services are delivered to tenants. Any spare time I have
I would like to put towards meeting new people, making new friends, putting something back into the community and hopefully making a difference.
My own interests include cooking, gardening, listening to music, reading. I am also involved in scouting as an Assistant Beaver Scout Leader.

Elizabeth Darbin Area 6 – Towcester

Elizabeth DarbinI put my name forward to serve on the Customer Committee of SNH last year and was elected to serve as a representative.
I have lived in Towcester for nine years and for eight of these years I have been an involved tenant, first with South Northants Council. As an involved SNH tenant I also serve on the Repairs and Improvement Forum and the Older Persons’ Forum.
Belonging to the Customer Committee gives me an opportunity to see an overview of all other SNH forums and also represent the tenants in Towcester by voicing our opinions at the meetings.

Shirley Gough Area 7 – Alderton, Grafton Regis, Yardley Gobion, Potterspury, Pury End, Cosgrove, Old Stratford, Deanshanger and Wicken

Shirley GoughI have been an involved tenant for four years now. I am also a Tenant Board Member and a member of the Repairs and Improvements Forum. Being a member of the forums gives me a chance to have some input into the decisions made by SNH, meet other tenants and staff, and to participate in lively discussions on what we would like done in the future.
I am also a parish councillor in my own village where my main interest is the younger generation. I helped form a youth club where I am a volunteer. My personal interests are also my family, having a glass of real ale and a game of Whist.

Rod Perkin Area 8 – Bugbrooke, Nether Heyford, Upper Heyford, Kislingbury and Harpole

Rod PerkinI chair the Repairs and Improvements Forum and am also a member of the Housing Management Forum. Being an involved customer gives me a voice for the tenants and I enjoy taking forward issues raised by others and being a representative in the local community. I am also a founder member of Bugbrooke Rugby Club and I enjoy fishing.

Philip Gabel Area 9 – Roade, Hartwell, Stoke Bruerne, Ashton and Shutlanger.

Philip GabelAs well as being a member of Customer Committee, I am also a member of the Repairs and Improvements Forum and a Tenant Board Member.
Customer Committee gives you a chance to meet senior figures within SNH and the opportunity to make your opinion heard, perhaps also an opportunity to change some of the decisions which directly affect the tenants.
I am employed by The University of Northampton. My main hobbies are amateur radio, astronomy and photography but I like to have a go at most things.

Judith Cuthbertson Area 10 – Cogenhoe, Little Houghton, Brafield on-the Green, Hackleton, Piddington and Quinton.

Judith CuthbertsonThe area I represent is rural, comprising
small villages which are
peaceful and pleasant.
Customer Committee
gives an insight into
what goes
on at SNH and offers the opportunity to raise issues. The meetings allow SNH to update us on modernisation programmes, refits (kitchen and bathroom), enabling residents to see what's happening in their area and within SNH as a whole. I am also on the Older Persons’ Forum. This group regularly meets to discuss older peoples’ needs and how SNH responds to these. I assist at our day centre in Yardley Hastings and help older residents with small jobs. I enjoy walking and I am usually out and about in the village.

Tim Knights (Vice Chair) – Leaseholder representative

Tim KnightsI represent the Leaseholders from the whole SNH area (about 100 or so). I also attend the Leaseholders Forum and I am on the SNH Board as a nomination from the Customer Committee. The Customer Committee gives us a great chance to share and discuss a wide range of views with other members of the Committee and directly with SNH staff. I joined the Customer Committee to make sure that leaseholders could play a part in the SNH plans. With my own interests I like to be in the open air, walking locally and in other parts of England.

How do I become a Customer Committee representative?
Customer Committee members serve the Customer Committee for three years and when a place becomes available SNH will campaign for new members to come forward. If there is more than one tenant interested, SNH will hold an election in the relevant areas by writing to all tenants in that area with information about the candidates and a voting slip for them to complete.
